Computer Networks Laboratory

The main project idea is the creation of video-educational server - "virtual university" (http://vu.cnl.tuke.sk) on the basis of philosophy to build information e-learning systems, multimedia databases of the educational resorces and the creation of the CNL portal. This project also includes creation and development of video server and streaming server.

For the practical use we are developed a new video-streaming server, which allows realization of IP video-streaming presentations and supports presentation service. Registration on this server is free. Everyone who is interested in videos of the technical area, can find here many interested records and some videos are in slovak too.

The communication ability, exchange of opinions about the lections saved in multimedia archive or direct reactions on on-line presentations are for the users the interesting complement of the system All this information are saved in the database according to multimedia content to which they belong.

Prompt and intuitive access to the information is based on the user criteria. The basic components of this solution are: (1) Storing of multimedia data, (2) provision of multimedia information based on the request, (3) system distribution for multicast (on-line) broadcast, (4) databases: information about the archive content and links to its position, information about users, information about the upcoming live broadcasts, (5) WWW server (user interface).
